Established in 2009, 18 Waits is an all men’s wear brand founded by Daniel Torjman. His main idea for 18 Waits was to bring craftsmanship and have good quality fabrics being used for all the merchandise. The products are made by artisans and manufacturers in Canada and also the United States. His main inspiration for the brand was Rock and Roll music which he enjoys thoroughly, along with that he likes to travel around and do some outdoor adventures with his son and his dog.
18 Waits promote more of a lifestyle as opposed to being a fashion label. They also say it’s a common space for like-minded people. The brand lives by the phrase ‘Joie de Vivre’ which means having a cheerful enjoyment of life.
The brand has a frame of mind that is of an old European market, but at the same time, it also takes inspiration from nature and the natural circle of the earth. It portrays a lifestyle that also sticks just as much to Parisian cafés as it does to old English pubs, wood cabins by the lake, 1970s Rock and Roll music, poetry and literature just to name a few.
The clothes made are carefully curated with precise attention given to the fabric used with no details overlooked. Daniel Torjman says that the items are meant to be worn well, appreciated, loved, and also destroyed.
