Item: The Button Up
It’s a staple item that everyone must have in their wardrobe! I’m quite obsessed with button ups as you can make them super casual or dress them up for any occasion. The button up becomes versatile because of the amount of fabrics, colours and patterns it comes in which makes it easy to wear to different events and occasions.
How to Style
A way that I love to style a button up is by tucking it in. You can either tuck it all in to the pant of your choosing or you can unbutton the last 1 or 2 buttons then tuck in half of the front or the full front for an elevated look.
Simple! Unbutton the last two buttons and tie the two ends in a knot & voila! you have a cute style to go out in for a day of shopping or exploring.
My new favourite way of styling the button up is grabbing a size thats bigger than what I would normally go for and wearing a lacy bralette underneath. With the oversize shirt you can show some shoulder by bring it down your arm on one side or you can do The Tie trick and shorten the shirt.
The Extra Piece
Button ups make such a good layering piece! Here you can wear a tank top (plain, or patterned) then put the button up over top and unbuttoned. This works great with a Chambray shirt or any style of your choosing.
With all these styles you can wear any type of bottom you would like! It’s up to you and depending on what the occasion is. MY favourite bottom to wear a button up with is culottes or a patterned straight-legged, cropped trouser!
